Hobbies and Interests

I’m really crafty and artsy. I learn new crafts fast! Some of my hobbies include making jewelry, sewing, and spray painting (I love graffiti). I enjoy traveling and exploring cultures through music and food.

Little Known Facts About Me

I’m obsessed with Tupac and the whole Shakur family.
I like REAL Hip Hop and will discuss it for hours.
All my siblings names begin with J, we are all 3 years apart, and the pattern goes boy, girl, boy, girl.
My family has Trinidadian roots I love to visit family whenever possible

Why I am Committed to WSST

I am committed to academic growth within small underserved communities. At Western I feel I have an opportunity to affect positive change in the Maryvale community. I believe all children deserve access to equal education and college readiness. As a product of a flawed educational system and experiencing those impacts, I feel obligated to help and assist a new way of learning.

Learning Experience that Changed Me

In ninth grade I had a school counselor suggest that I follow the trade route versus college prep as I wasn’t “suited” for college. At that point I realized I hated school, I skipped over half the school year, and failed 4/6 classes. It wasn’t until my junior year after joining summer bridge, a program designed to expose at risk youth to college, that I considered higher education a reality.
